EP900/EP800 Home Integration Kit

The kit that turns a whole-home ESS into an integrated backup system

The EP800 and EP900 aren’t portable power stations you wheel out during an outage. They’re permanent whole-home energy storage systems fixed installations designed to sit against a wall or in an outdoor enclosure and run essentials (or the entire home) through grid outages, peak-rate hours, or fully off-grid.

But the ESS unit itself is only half the equation. To connect a 7.6 kW (EP800) or 9 kW (EP900) energy storage system to your home’s electrical panel with automatic UPS switching, critical-loads distribution, and (for the EP900) bidirectional grid interaction you need the right interface hardware.

The BLUETTI EP900/EP800 Home Integration Kit (sometimes called the “Smart Home Panel”) is exactly that. It’s the professional-grade transfer and distribution unit that turns a wall-mounted EP800 or EP900 into a fully integrated home backup system.

Why this isn’t like BLUETTI’s other Home Integration Kits

BLUETTI ships several Home Integration Kits across its product line. It’s worth understanding where this one sits:

Kit
Platform
Design

Target

Apex 300 HIK Portable Apex 300 Reliance sub-panel + P050A Manual Essential loads
AC300 HIK Modular AC300 + B300 Reliance sub-panel + TT-30 Manual Essential loads
AC500 HIK Modular AC500 + B300S Reliance sub-panel + NEMA 14-50 Manual Essential loads
EP500 Pro HIK Self-contained EP500 Pro Reliance sub-panel + L14-30 Manual Essential loads
EP900/EP800 HIK (this SKU) Whole-home EP800/EP900 BLUETTI Smart Home Panel Automatic UPS + grid-tie Whole-home / critical loads

The lower kits are for portable power stations plugged into a home panel during outages. This kit is for hardwired, whole-home energy storage systems with automatic transfer, higher current capacity, and (on the EP900) grid-tied bidirectional operation.

The EP800/EP900 kit uses BLUETTI’s own smart home panel rather than a Reliance-brand manual transfer switch. Different scale of product for a different scale of installation.

What this kit does

The Home Integration Kit is the hardware bridge between the EP800/EP900 unit and your home’s main electrical panel. Its core functions:

  • UPS auto-transfer — the EP800/EP900’s built-in inverter handles the transfer, and the integration kit provides the wiring interconnect and critical-loads distribution
  • Critical-loads separation — routes selected home circuits through the ESS while non-critical circuits stay on utility only, ensuring your battery isn’t wasted on optional loads
  • Grid-tied bypass (EP900 only) — during normal operation, utility power flows through to your loads; the battery charges in the background from grid or solar; grid interaction is bidirectional (net-metering-compatible with the appropriate energy meter accessory)
  • Off-grid operation (EP800) — with no grid required, the integration kit handles distribution from the ESS to home circuits as the primary supply
  • Communication interface — for pairing with BLUETTI’s Energy Management System (EMS) and monitoring via the BLUETTI app

EP800 vs EP900 matched with the same kit

Both EP800 and EP900 are whole-home ESS units, but they serve different scenarios:

  • EP800 — off-grid energy storage system, 7,600 W continuous output. Designed for properties with no grid connection or those transitioning to full off-grid.
  • EP900 — hybrid energy storage system, 9,000 W continuous output. Designed for grid-tied homes wanting battery backup, solar self-consumption, and (where regulatory approval allows) net metering / grid export.

One Home Integration Kit fits both. The kit is designed to work with either EP800 or EP900, though the specific operating mode configured during installation differs EP800 installs are off-grid-only; EP900 installs enable grid-tied bidirectional operation.

What’s in the box check with your reseller

BLUETTI publishes limited specifics about the exact kit contents online, so confirm with your reseller before ordering. In general, the kit provides:

  • The BLUETTI Smart Home Panel (transfer switch + critical-loads distribution hardware)
  • Wiring harnesses connecting the EP800/EP900 to the panel
  • Communication cabling for EMS integration
  • Mounting hardware
  • Installation manual and Sub Panel with Transfer Switch Manual

Not included — buy separately as part of a complete system:

  • BLUETTI EP800 or EP900 unit (the actual ESS)
  • BLUETTI B500 battery modules (up to 4 per ESS, sold in the Power Shelter accessory bundles)
  • Base Bracket for EP800/EP900 (physical mounting)
  • PV Inverter Energy Meter (required only if AC-coupling existing solar into the ESS)
  • EMS unit (if not already part of the EP900 package — required for parallel EP800/EP900 systems)
  • Power Shelter C10 or C20 (outdoor enclosure, if installing outside)
  • Any solar panels, PV wiring, or grid-tie interconnect hardware
  • Wire runs from the panel to your home’s main panel

Installation reality this is a professional install

Unlike BLUETTI’s smaller Home Integration Kits (which some competent DIYers assemble the physical hardware then hire an electrician for the AC connection), the EP800/EP900 kit is a fully professional installation:

  • Licensed electrician mandatory for all wiring
  • Building permit required in most North American, EU, AU, and NZ jurisdictions
  • For the EP900 grid-tied mode: utility company interconnection approval may be required (varies by jurisdiction)
  • Correct sizing and configuration of the panel and battery bank must match your home’s electrical load profile
  • Physical installation typically takes 1–2 days
  • Commissioning and system testing add another 0.5–1 day

Budget for professional installation expect $3,000–$8,000 in electrician and installer labour on top of the equipment cost, more for complex installs. The equipment itself (EP800/EP900 + integration kit + batteries + shelter) typically ranges from $15,000–$30,000+ depending on configuration.

If you’re not sure what you’re building, talk to a BLUETTI-certified installer before ordering hardware.

Where this kit fits in the overall ecosystem

The EP800/EP900 Home Integration Kit is one component of a full whole-home ESS build. Depending on your configuration, you may also need:

Component
Purpose

EP900 or EP800 unit The ESS itself — inverter + control
B500 battery modules (1–4) Storage capacity, 4,960 Wh each
Base Bracket Mounts the ESS to a wall or floor
This Home Integration Kit Connects the ESS to your home electrical panel
PV Inverter Energy Meter Only if AC-coupling existing solar into the ESS
Power Shelter (C10/C20) Outdoor enclosure — for outdoor installations
EMS Energy Management System — required for parallel EP800/EP900 setups

For a typical grid-tied home wanting backup power plus solar self-consumption on the EP900:

  • EP900 unit + Base Bracket + this Home Integration Kit + 2–4 × B500 + PV Inverter Energy Meter

For an off-grid rural property with the EP800:

  • EP800 unit + Base Bracket + this Home Integration Kit + 2–4 × B500 + outdoor Power Shelter (if not installed indoors)

Compatibility and limits

  • EP800 and EP900 only. This kit is specifically designed for BLUETTI’s whole-home ESS platforms. Not compatible with AC300, AC500, EP500 Pro, Apex 300, or any portable BLUETTI unit those have their own separate Home Integration Kits.
  • Regional variants. Electrical specifications differ between markets. Confirm you’re ordering the correct regional variant for your electrical system (120V/240V split-phase for North America, 230V single-phase for NZ/EU/AU/UK).
  • Licensed electrician required. No exceptions.
  • Not compatible with third-party inverters or batteries. The integration kit’s transfer logic and communication protocols are BLUETTI-specific.
  • EP900 grid-tied mode may require utility interconnection approval depending on your local network operator’s requirements.
